Ridgeview Elementary School – Clintwood, VA
Designed by Blacksburg, VA-based ZMM Architects, Ridgeview Elementary School is the first zero-energy school building in West Virginia. To achieve this, the design team utilized an exterior wall system of insulated concrete forms that substantially increases the thermal mass and airtightness of the exterior as well as the use of solar panels on the roof and a Ceramic5 Porcelain Rainscreen for the exterior wall system on the project. Ridgeview received a 2020 AIA Merit Award, Achievement in Architecture in Sustainable Design.
