SUNY Oswega Shineman Center - TCPlank Terracotta Rainscreen Cladding Application

Shineman Center - SUNY Oswego - Lake Ontario, NY

The Shineman Center is a large STEM complex at SUNY Oswego, situated on the shores of Lake Ontario in New York — one of the most climatically demanding environments in the northeastern United States. The design team, mindful of the site's harsh winters and relentless wind and moisture exposure, designed a building that required a façade capable of performing as rigorously as it looks. For this challenge, Cladding Corp's Terra5 TCPlank ceramic cladding system was selected, its Tuscany color bringing warmth to an otherwise demanding climate.

TCPlank's robust construction forms a windproof, waterproof outer layer that works in concert with the building's insulation strategy — raising internal wall surface temperatures and delivering meaningful gains in thermal comfort for students and faculty year-round. The result is a façade that meets the extremes of Oswego head-on without compromising on architectural quality.
